Featherlite has developed an integrated self-contained shelter capable of being installed underground utilizing a patent pending high tech composite and structural design which reduces the weight of a structure by 90% of the weight of a equivalent size concrete structure. Featerlite uses distinct high strength structural fiber reinforced polymer composites utilized in a dual wall configuration** to replace the age-old stand-by of concrete.

Necessary strength, water and fire retardant, color and other characteristics can be designed into the profile by changes in the resin mixture and the reinforcement material. Fiber reinforced polymer (FRP) is design-engineered into lightweight, strong rigid structures that will not chip, flake, corrode or leak. Very similar material has been used for replacement of deteriorating concrete on highway bridges, under bridge duct systems, telecommunications towers, seawalls, plant support beams, and was used in the design and development of Navy Mine Sweeping Ships to eliminate the metal attraction, as well as many other applications. The composite materials contain zero metal reinforcements. Continual Controlled factory environment ensures highest quality standards.

The entire structure can be fabricated, assembled, outfitted with the state of the art environmental monitoring and control equipment, providing easy access eliminating ladders and replacing them with OSHA approved safety stairs, and integrated with the customers required selection of electronic equipment in a totally quality controlled atmosphere.

A special vestibule anteroom is key to ensuring security of the customers highly sensitive electronic equipment. Only those who have a need to enter this secure area will be required to do so. Maintenance and service of HVAC equipment, UPS systems, batteries, and generators can be limited to the vestibule area. A secured door separates critical and sensitive equipment.
